The creative workshop Papierkiste in Barth is a special place for paper art, book design and artistic work with paper. The workshop is run by artist Bettina Follenius, who has been working intensively with paper as an artistic medium for many years. The Papierkiste combines art, craftsmanship and creativity and invites visitors to experience paper in new and surprising ways.
Experimental and artistic work with paper is at the heart of the Papierkiste's work. By folding, cutting, layering and shaping, three-dimensional paper objects, sculptures and works of art are created that move between free art, object design and book art. Paper is not seen here as a consumable material, but as an independent means of expression with structure, depth and character.
A particular focus of the Papierkiste is the design of artists' books. This results in unique handmade books, book objects and experimental book forms that consciously question classic book design. Each work is unique, combining content, form and material to form an artistic unit. The artists' books are suitable both as exhibition objects and as special collector's items.
The Papierkiste in Barth regularly offers workshops and creative courses. These are aimed at adults, young people and creative beginners as well as people with previous artistic experience. The courses teach various paper design techniques - from simple folding techniques to developing your own artist's book or yearbook. The aim is to initiate creative processes and promote the ability to express oneself.
Kreativwerkstatt Papierkiste is an integral part of the regional art and culture scene in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It regularly participates in open studio formats and art events such as Kunst:Offen and opens its doors to visitors, art enthusiasts and tourists. The workshop is a place for exchange, inspiration and encounters.
