The birthplace of Prussian Field Marshal Helmuth von Moltke presents an interesting collection on the military, scientific and literary achievements of the Parchimer.

The Prussian field marshal Helmuth von Moltke is a member of the Mecklenburg family and, in his function as chief of the general staff, played a significant role in the victories in the three wars of unification (German-Danish War of 1864, German War of 1866, German-French War of 1870/71).

The house where Helmuth von Moltke was born is located at Lange Straße 28 in Parchim. On May 26, 1994, the Moltke Memorial was opened in this house. It was established by the Moltke Foundation Berlin in cooperation with the Parchim Museum. The visitor gets an insight into the life and work of this personality, who was born on October 26, 1800 in Parchim and died on April 24, 1891 in Berlin. Showcases and display boards depict Moltke's ties to the town of his birth, his military, scientific and literary achievements.
