Playgrounds and indoor arcades

The Baltic Sea is constantly nibbling away at the coast of Graal-Müritz. In the coastal protection experience world, you can learn how the residents protect themselves from this and playfully explore the various coastal protection measures with your children.

Here you can playfully learn interesting facts about coastal protection with your little ones. The seaside resort is particularly at risk because it lies just above sea level. Without coastal protection structures, the sea would constantly reshape the coast, flooding it and threatening the people who live there. Regular sand flushing and four structural elements protect the hinterland during storm surges: Groynes, a geotextile wall, a dike, and most importantly, the dune. The grass-covered dikes alone could not withstand the storm surges. Thus, over time, a whole system of coastal protection was developed.
