The Astronomical Station "Tycho Brahe" comprises an observatory and a planetarium in Rostock. Since its existence, it has served mainly to support school teaching.
The Rostock Astronomical Station was opened in 1965. In the planetarium, on a dome with a diameter of 6 meters, you can see about five thousand stars of the starry sky for any latitude between the North Pole and the equator in their daily apparent motion. With a telescope - Coudè refractor 150 / 2250 - the objects can be magnified between 56 and 375 times. Public events are offered on various topics of astronomy. For pupils there are project days, lessons and recreational events. Interested students can participate in working groups.
