Workshops for traditional music: bagpipes, diatonic accordion, ensemble, yodeling, sessions in Schwerin-Mueß. Suitable for beginners and advanced players.

For the first time in a long time, playing courses for traditional dance music for beginners and advanced amateur and professional musicians will take place in Schwerin-Mueß from March 20 to 23. The Windros Seminar Weekend is organized by the Zentrum für traditionelle Musik e.V. (Centre for Traditional Music) as a support association of the Schwerin-Mueß Open-Air Museum.

Yodeling - free playing with voice and sound

The voice is the instrument of the year 2025, so the association has invited Heidi Clementi from South Tyrol to yodel with North Germans. She says: "Yodelling is an expression of pure joie de vivre, sometimes loud and free - sometimes a little more stad' and intimate, always powerful and direct. We learn the typical throat beat, practise playing freely with our voices and discover new, original sounds. Step by step, we immerse ourselves in the alpine sound space, listen and listen to each other and enjoy the "Zubisingen" and "Zommiodeln". Without notes, according to the oldest method in the world of singing and re-singing, by listening and "Hinspürn", this is how we learn the yodels.

Learning from celebrities and experienced professionals

In 2020, playing the diatonic accordion was added to UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage List. Jan Budweis teaches the accordion - for beginners and more advanced players.

Violinist Vivien Zeller from Berlin offers an ensemble course for all musical instruments.

Ernst Poets from Hamburg teaches traditional dance music from old music manuscripts.

Radio presenter Wolfgang Meyering comes from a family whose folk music traditions date back to the 18th century. He will give a lecture on the history of the mandolin in traditional music and modern folk music since the beginning of the 20th century.

The bagpipes have a long tradition in Mecklenburg and in Germany in general. Ralf Gehler offers a course with historical North German melodies in single and polyphonic ensemble playing on bagpipes in the keys of G and D. The melodies are mostly simple - but beautiful.

Just join in - courses during the day, relaxed sessions in the evening

If you would like to join in the fun of yodeling, harmonica and bagpipes and learn something at the same time, you can register immediately and as soon as possible for the Windros Seminar 2025 ?
