This exhibition honors the women of the artists' colony who had to face social pressure to make their passion visible.
For many years, they remained in the background - the women painters of the Ahrenshoop artists' colony. The collection exhibition dedicated to them sheds light on the different paths these women took and the obstacles they had to face in the period around 1900. The exhibition tells of their talent, their perseverance and their struggle for visibility. Between family expectations, social constraints and artistic ambitions, numerous talents were almost lost - and yet these women artists have left a lasting mark. The show at the Kunstmuseum is being created in close collaboration with the Künstlerhaus Lukas.
