Experience and try out the Linotype typesetting machine live. Every 1st Saturday of the month from 11 am to 4 pm.
The Linotype typesetting machine, invented by Ottmar Mergenthaler in 1886, revolutionized the printing industry and was described by Thomas Edison as the "eighth wonder of the world". It replaced slow manual typesetting with mechanical typesetting and casting of entire lines of text from lead.
Interested museum visitors can learn more about this mechanical marvel and the mechanical development of lead typesetting.
Every first Saturday of the month, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can experience the mechanical typesetting machine live at the Stralsund playing card factory and set, cast and then print your own line. Come along, we look forward to seeing you.
Closed on public holidays.
