Guided tour with Leonie Korbach and Max Wenzel
We are Leonie Korbach and Max Wenzel from Wilde Flora. As a landscape architect and a biologist, we founded our flower field in Wampen near Greifswald in early 2022. Here, we grow cut flowers—known as “slowflowers”—in a sustainable manner and also use them to create floral arrangements. This combination of cut flower cultivation and floristry is called “farmer floristry.” Our flowers come in a wide variety of forms, ranging from simple bouquets and wreaths to more elaborate floral designs for weddings or other events.
We are also part of the Slowflower movement, a collective of flower farmers, farmer-florists, and floral designers from the DACH region. The collective was founded in 2019 by seven people and has since grown into an association with over 350 members. As full members, we’ve committed to clear guidelines, which include, among other things, not using pesticides or mineral fertilizers, practicing circular agriculture, and avoiding single-use plastics in floristry. The movement’s three principles are: seasonality, regionality, and sustainability.
During the guided tour, we’ll share insights into our cultivation practices, introduce the types of cut flowers in our field, and provide a look at how the flowers are processed all the way to the finished bouquet.
Anyone who wishes to do so is warmly invited to wander through the flower field on their own after the tour and pick flowers of their choice. If desired, we’ll be happy to assist you with flower arranging and share tips and tricks. The cost of your own bouquet is calculated based on the number of stems.
