Daisy von Pless, née Mary Theresa Olivia Cornwallis-West, came from the English landed gentry and soon rose to become the most celebrated high-society lady of the late 19th century. Over the course of her eventful life, she became a passionate humanist and an early advocate for a united Europe.
Kristin Giertler explores this fascinating figure and tells the extraordinary story of a woman caught between two worlds.
