Reading and talk show with Walter Plathe and Marten Sand

On stage, he played the seductive Liliom, the mischievous Schwejk and the tragic Professor Unrat. In films he played comic and serious roles, and on television he was the down-to-earth, likeable "Landarzt" for seventeen years. As dazzling and versatile as Walter Plathe's roles are, the character behind them is straightforward and direct. Walter Plathe - a real Berlin plant, a guy with heart and snout, a popular actor who sticks to his credo: "The mother of Janze is the theater!".
Walter Plathe tells his life story with a lot of humor and chats with Marten Sand in the second part. The audience can write down questions during the interval, which Walter Plathe then answers ALL of them, because he "hasn't left anything out".
Biography:
Walter Plathe studied at the Berlin State Drama School and was hired by the Schwerin State Theatre in 1971 and the Berlin Theater der Freundschaft, now the Theater an der Parkaue, in 1976. His TV career began with "Märkische Chronik" and "Das Puppenheim in Pinnow". He was voted the GDR's TV favorite five times. From 1992-2008, he played the title role in the ZDF series "Der Landarzt", the doctor Dr. Ulrich Teschner, 130 times. Since 2010, he has been in front of the camera as the mayor in the series "Familie Dr. Kleist". Despite his all-German TV career, including "Tatort", "Der Alte", "Derrick" and "Das Traumschiff", he remains loyal to the theater. He made his debut at the Theater am Kurfürstendamm in 1990 with the Otto Reutter evening "Alles weg'n de' Leut'". For his solo play "Heute kein Hamlet" he received the Golden Curtain (Audience Award of the Berlin Theater Club) for the first time in 2001. This was followed by further awards with the Berlin Theater Prize for his performances in the productions "Die Abenteuer des braven Soldaten Schwejk" in 2005, "Ein eingebildeter Kranker" in 2007, "Zille" in 2009 and "Zille und Der eiserne Gustav" in 2014. He played the leading roles in Berlin, Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Cologne in "Zille", "Die Abenteuer des braven Soldaten Schwejk", "Der blaue Engel", "Der eiserne Gustav" and the leading role of Joseph Süß in "Das Vermögen des Herrn Süß" in the Dieter Wedel production "Nibelungen" in Worms. In 2009, he was awarded the Georg Scheu Prize for his role as "Volker von Alzey" at the 2008 Nibelungen Festival. In 2015-2017, he played Götz von Berlichingen in the play of the same name at the Jagsthausen Castle Festival. Audiences in Berlin recently saw him at the Theater am Kurfüstendamm in "Jacobowsky und der Oberst" and in "Monsieure Pierre geht online", played Sir Toby Rülp in "Was ihr wollt" at the Seefestival Wustrau and at the Schlosspark Theater under the direction of Marten Sand. He was also awarded the BZ Culture Prize in 2019.
