Live photo & film reportage by Olaf Schubert
Anyone who embarks on a journey through Vietnam is overwhelmed by the beauty and cultural diversity of the country. Vibrant metropolises with the typical chaotic traffic, hectic young life in the streets, impressive colonial architecture and smells and tastes that touch all the senses. These are all fascinating impressions that draw travelers and adventurers to this distant country. But perhaps life in the smaller towns and in the jungle or the seemingly endless coastline with its dreamy lagoons are also appealing.
Olaf Schubert, an award-winning photojournalist and author who has traveled extensively in Asia for over 25 years, is always fascinated by the diverse impressions of Vietnam. This photographic and cinematic journey takes him from the south of the country, including Phu Quoc Island and the Con Dao archipelago, across the Mekong Delta and right up to the Chinese border in the rugged mountains of northern Vietnam. The northern Vietnamese province of Hà Giang, some of which can still be visited with a special permit, awaits with spectacular gorges and monumental karst rock formations. The villages of the numerous hill tribes seem to defy time.
