Reading with Wolf Schmidt in the city library
Dr. Wolf Schmidt is a historian and now looks at the history of Mecklenburg in the 2nd volume of the series entitled "The other Mecklenburg-Vorpommern". The series is a fun way to learn about the region in easy-to-read episodes of just a few pages. They are characterized by cheeky questions, ironic distance and tongue-in-cheek chains of associations. Much revolves around food and drink, language and history, clichés and everyday culture. Celebrities from Zeppelin to Schliemann and Loriot are not neglected either. All with an original perspective and quirky details. A different view of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern that alienates the familiar and brings the distant closer.
The historian wrote the two volumes for the Mecklenburger AnStiftung. In doing so, he turns the pages of identity-forming episodes of cultural history and connects them in a new way. This is exciting for both long-time residents and newcomers.
Wolf Schmidt will present the result on February 24 at 7 pm in the city library in the Zeughaus. He will draw on his full repertoire and will, of course, also present the special features of Wismar in this context.
Tickets for this guaranteed amusing and knowledgeable evening are now available from the city library at a price of 5.00 euros. Advance bookings can be made on 03841 251 4020 or stadtbibliothek@wismar.de. Remaining tickets, if available, are available at the box office for 7.00 euros.
