Claudia Goldbach-Rios, who comes from Peru, has been closely associated with painting since her childhood. As a self-taught artist, she found a way to express her innermost feelings through painting and to make contact with the viewers of her pictures. "Painting helped me in my most difficult times," says the artist, "it transformed my sadness and grief into creativity, strengthened me and gave me strength." Claudia Goldbach-Rios teaches painting as a way of meditation and relaxation in numerous painting workshops for various organizations.
The artist lives in Stralsund and was able to open her first exhibition on indigenous activists as part of the Intercultural Week in Stralsund in 2023. She now regularly shares her art and culture there, but has also shown her pictures outside the Hanseatic city, for example at exhibitions in Rostock or at the Embassy of Peru in Berlin.
Claudia Goldbach-Rios portrays women who are fighting or have fought for their rights, who are committed to social justice and environmental protection, but also mystical female figures. Her art, which uses the power of color to reflect the country of Peru and the strength of women, is primarily intended to empower women and girls and counteract gender-based violence. But she also wants to honor her ancestors with paintings that tell of Mama Killa (the moon goddess), Pachamama (the fire goddess) and the air goddess from the time of the Inca empire.
"Art is an essential part of my life. My works reflect my identity, my cultural heritage and my personal path of transformation and spiritual connection."
The exhibition can be viewed free of charge from January 12 to April 24, 2026 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 9am-12pm & 1pm-4pm, Tuesdays 1pm-4pm and Fridays 9am-12pm. Group tours are also possible, please contact us in advance.
