"Without water, remember, our world would be an empty barrel." (Quote from the opera "The Water Bearer" by Luigi Cherubini)

"Without water, remember, our world would be an empty barrel."

This quote from the opera "The Water Bearer" by Luigi Cherubini, first performed in Paris in 1800, is more relevant today than ever. The German government's National Water Strategy, for example, points out how important this issue is.
We cannot live without water.

Birgit Wendt joins Rostock residents and visitors to the city on a 90-minute walk to the most interesting sites in the center of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the city with the most fountains.
Well-known and lesser-known works of water art are presented in more detail and the history and stories are discussed.
