Play about the women artists of Hiddensee

A special theatrical experience awaits visitors to the Schwaan Art Museum on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 6 pm: The Greifswald Student Theatre presents the play "Frauenbild(er) - Das Drama um die Hiddenseer Künstlerinnen". The production takes the audience to the island of Hiddensee at the beginning of the 20th century - to a time when female artists such as Clara Arnheim, Elisabeth Büchsel and Henni Lehmann fought for their place in the art world against social resistance. Between longing for freedom, artistic passion and the desire for self-determination, the play tells of strong women and their moving life stories. The event accompanies the current exhibition "Neues aus Hiddensee - Insel der Malerinnen" at the Schwaan Art Museum. Admission: 10 euros.
