Waltz Dreams to Kick Off the New Year at the Konzertkirche in Neubrandenburg
The sounds of waltzes fill the Concert Church, ushering in the New Year in Neubrandenburg with gusto: The Győr Philharmonic Orchestra—one of Hungary’s leading ensembles with an international reputation—will perform the Vienna New Year’s Concert “Best of Classic” on Tuesday, January 5, 2027. In the true spirit of the Viennese concert tradition, the 46-member ensemble, conducted by Maestro Michael Waldemar Maciaszczyk, will present a festive program in 3/4 time starting at 6:00 p.m., featuring waltzes, polkas, and lively, catchy tunes.
With audible enthusiasm and technical brilliance, the orchestra knows how to combine lightness and splendor. It is precisely this blend that has always characterized the famous Vienna New Year’s Concerts. Familiar melodies invite the audience to dream and hum along.
Over the years, the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra has written a true success story: As one of Hungary’s leading cultural ensembles, it performs on Europe’s major stages and is in high demand internationally. The musicians and their maestro received special recognition through their collaboration with the legendary film composer Ennio Morricone, as well as through their nomination as the resident orchestra for the Hungarian gala of the Operalia competition, founded by Plácido Domingo.
With the “Best of Classic” New Year’s Concert at the Konzertkirche Neubrandenburg, the organizers are continuing a long-standing tradition: Since the late 1930s, the start of the year has been celebrated with festive music in Vienna and far beyond. This tradition has also taken root in Neubrandenburg and ushers the local audience into the new year.
