Special Exhibition: August 7 through October 31, 2026, at the 3 Königinnen Palais
The special exhibition “Shadows on the Moon” features etchings, watercolors, gouaches, and mixed-media works. They offer insight into Konstantin Kalynovych’s multifaceted visual world, which is characterized by virtuoso graphic technique, subtle symbolism, and a dialogue with the tradition of European printmaking.
Konstantin Kalynovych (b. 1959) is an artist, painter, and book illustrator, as well as one of the most significant contemporary masters of printmaking. He gained particular renown for his masterfully executed etchings and bookplates.
At the heart of his work lie memories, time, and the fragile boundary between dream and reality. His deliberate engagement with the Old Masters gives rise to a visual world that is deeply rooted in tradition yet decidedly contemporary in its expression.
Konstantin Kalynovych studied at the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the “Ivan Fedorov” Ukrainian Polygraphic Institute in Lviv and graduated with honors in 1992.
Since 1992, Konstantin Kalynovych has been a corresponding member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (United Kingdom). He is a prize winner in numerous international competitions for printmaking and bookplate art. His works have been exhibited internationally and are held in museums and private collections around the world.
The works on display at the 3 Königinnen Palais come from the collection of the exhibition’s curator, Roman Demidov.
Admission is included in the ticket price for the interactive experiential exhibition.
