The Twins and Other Family Misadventures
Book Presentation with Baruch Berliner and Publisher Peter Amsler (Der Erzählverlag)
When twins take over, no turtleneck sweater remains unscathed, no breakfast table unscathed, and no image of fatherhood unshaken.
In these lighthearted family stories, Baruch Berliner recounts life with his twins, David and Jonathan—and later with little Rachel—with affectionate mockery, subtle self-deprecation, and an unerring sense of the humor in everyday life. What begins as modern fatherhood quickly turns into an adventurous campaign against dirty diapers, stubborn children, honey jars, traffic lights, turtlenecks, and other forces of fate.
Written in the 1980s in Germany, Switzerland, and Israel, these stories exude a charmingly old-fashioned atmosphere: intimate, pointed, sometimes over-the-top, always warm-hearted. The narrator fights bravely, his wife is usually right, the children almost always have the upper hand—and every little disaster turns into a grand comedy of family life.
The book will be published in November 2026 by “Der Erzählverlag” in Berlin.
Baruch Berliner will once again be a guest at the Casablanca Film Club at STRAZE on Monday, November 9, with his film project “Address on the Wall.”
