The Souldiers - Strandsoul
When THE SOULDIERS formed 33 years ago , they just wanted to play this cool music and have as much fun as THE COMMITMENTS had shown on the big screen shortly before. Back in 1993, they didn’t have the faintest idea what “soul” meant. By “soul,” they obviously meant the soul. The heart, too. They talked about hard work, about keeping jobs, about the value of good communication, solidarity, and equality. All of that is soul. When it’s made with love, the enthusiasm is palpable both in front of and on stage—because it simply has everything it takes to make you happy. You can dance, dream, and hug each other, and the band delivers the groove—four voices crooning about love and its unconditional nature… and then there’s The Fat Horns, who’ll blow your ears off…
As a special addition to the concert evening in Ahlbeck, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:40 p.m. that evening, the rock band "Crazy Birds," also from Dresden, will perform a support set featuring well-known songs from the era of East German rock by such famous bands as LIFT, SILLY, and ELECTRA. The lineup includes several veterans of that era: Angela Ullrich (dr, voc), Tom Vogel (bass, vocals), and former “electra” musicians Ecki Lipske (guitar, vocals) and Andreas “Bruno” Leuschner (keyboards, vocals) are performing together under this name .
Both concerts are part of a joint project by two bands from Dresden. One after the other—first the rock band CRAZY BIRDS and then the soul band “The SOULDIERS”—will fill this summer evening with a rich variety of sounds.
