Of Tiny Creatures and Great Wonders - Tonlust Chamber Choir, Greifswald
A-capella choral music from the Renaissance, Romantic period, and the present day
Tonlust Chamber Choir, Greifswald, Conductor: Angela Ullwer
An evening of the 58th Benzer Church Summer, free admission, donations requested at the exit.
With its new program, “Of Little Creatures and Great Wonders,” the Greifswald Chamber Choir Tonlust transports its audience into a world full of magic, secrets, and wondrous stories. The concert promises a varied journey through different eras and soundscapes, focusing on fairy-tale characters, the beauty of nature, and the great wonders of life.
The program features works ranging from the Renaissance to the present day. Poetic settings of Shakespeare meet Nordic choral songs about princesses and elves, mysterious water creatures, and nocturnal landscapes. In addition, sacred music of touching beauty is featured, as well as rousing compositions full of lightness and movement.
The selected works speak to the fascination of the unknown: of beings that live between fantasy and reality, of the power of nature, and of moments of wonder that have inspired people for centuries. At times delicate and ethereal, at times powerful and dramatic, the choir unfolds a richly colored musical panorama.
Thus, “Of Little Creatures and Great Wonders” becomes more than just a choral concert: it is an invitation to immerse oneself in other worlds for an evening and to be enchanted by music.
