Networking meeting / symposium "Road of Low German"
The "Road of Low German" project pursues a comprehensive approach that sees Low German not only as a minority language, but also as an identity-forming and unifying element in the tourism landscape. It serves to promote a positive affinity with the homeland and to define and explore cultural similarities and differences within the region. In addition, Low German is used as a driver for tourism and is also linked nationally through digitalization with network partners.
A tourist route is to be defined under the title "Road of Low German", which will take visitors to various cultural and historical sites related to the Low German language. The route will be advertised and marketed nationally as a tourist attraction. Another important aspect of the project is the establishment of new event formats that are closely linked to Low German.
By linking, promoting and creating new digital content and formats, the aim is also to achieve better adaptation to digital change within the region. The continuous expansion and ongoing development of the network also serves to strengthen both the regional creative industries (event organizers, artists and cultural professionals, providers of digital services) and tourism providers in the long term through joint projects.
On June 28, 2025, the partners Stavenhagen, Mirow, Ivenack, Altentreptow, Siedenbollentin and the Mecklenburg Foundation signed a corresponding letter of intent. The city of Eisenach is an informal partner of this network.
The "Road of Low German" is open to new partnerships and cordially invites interested parties.
The exact schedule will be announced in good time.
