Concert Series at Manor Houses and Estates in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania
Storytelling Concert
“It felt as though I were carrying a fragile treasure. It even seemed to me that there was nothing more fragile on earth. In the moonlight, I gazed at that pale forehead, those closed eyes, that strand of wheat-blond hair trembling in the wind, and I said to myself: what I see is only a shell. The essence is invisible...”
We invite you to join us on a journey of discovery—a journey to discover slowness, friendship, and the color of wheat.
We follow Antoine’s advice, ignoring the millions of stars that seem to laugh like millions of little bells, to await the Little Prince beneath his stars.
“The Little Prince Meets YOU” is an approximately 80-minute concert, interactively narrated by actress Jana Kühn, with Peter Leipold’s new composition impressively brought to life by four musicians (violin, cello, piano, and saxophone). Through an interplay of music and spoken word, the audience is immersed in a world where reality and fiction go hand in hand. Become a contemporary witness to Saint-Exupéry’s story and an ally of the Little Prince.
The VIDA Ensemble seeks “vitality”—an exchange with itself and the audience through interactive concert formats—and explores the mutually inspiring interplay between original compositions and the spoken word.
The uniqueness of the rather unusual instrumentation—saxophone, violin, cello, piano, and voice—is not the only factor inspiring new sonic concepts: The composer is part of the ensemble and can thus help shape musical ideas and interpretation—not as separate entities, as is usually the case, but as a shared, dynamic process.
The ensemble gained recognition through the “Klingendes Gut” concert series in rural areas, which was funded by the NDR Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Music and Film Fund and initiated by the ensemble itself. With this CD recording, the ensemble is now making its recording debut.
In collaboration with the Verlag für Kindertheater, the ensemble has realized another innovative concert concept based on Michael Ende’s story “MOMO.”
