Composition, five-string double bass, loop station, live electronics
The music of Berlin composer, double bassist and multi-instrumentalist Jaspar Libuda is a classical soundscape, musical stories without words, a declaration of love to melody and the deep feelings it can evoke. A combination of virtuoso double bass artistry and electro-acoustic music.
Using a custom-built five-string double bass with a high C string, live electronics and a loop station, Jaspar Libuda creates an entire ensemble in front of his audience's ears. Layers surfaces and rhythms on top of each other. Weaves melodies and silence into a dense world of sound, simultaneously melancholy and full of joie de vivre. A state of suspension between styles and genres. A borderline between classical, jazz, rock, pop and minimal music. With timbres reminiscent of cello, percussion, guitar and oud.
