Film Screening of *Sonntagskind*—The Writer Helga Schubert
The film centers on a life-affirming, self-assured woman in her eighties. Jörg Herrmann and his team followed author Helga Schubert with their cameras for nearly eight months in 2022. For example, the audience learns how she published her first book with the help of Sarah Kirsch. The film highlights key turning points in the author’s life in East Berlin, the GDR, her role during the fall of the Berlin Wall, and in reunified Germany. “For me, the film is really a work of art created by the director. I provided the material, but he turned it into a work of art,” Helga Schubert sums up.
