The summer concerts at St. Mary’s Church in Barth invite you to a special evening with Berlin-based musician Reinhard Glende. The cellist, organist, and harpsichordist has devoted himself to historical performance practice for many years and will present the fascinating sounds of the harpsichord in the church’s impressive atmosphere.
As part of the summer concert series in August, visitors to St. Mary’s Church in Barth can look forward to a special concert experience on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 8:00 p.m.: Berlin-based musician Reinhard Glende will perform a harpsichord concert in the historic brick church.
A native of Rathenow, he studied cello at the “Hanns Eisler” University of Music in Berlin. In addition to his work as a cellist, he has been deeply passionate about historical keyboard instruments for many years. He is particularly dedicated to historical performance practice, harpsichord and organ playing, as well as the theory and practice of basso continuo.
Since 1980, Reinhard Glende has been teaching at the “Béla Bartók” Music School in Berlin, where he instructs students in cello, chamber music, and accompaniment. From 1990 to 2020, he also served as organist at the Christuskirche in Berlin-Kreuzberg. In addition, he was the founder and long-time artistic director of the renowned summer concert series at Jerichow Abbey.
With his many years of experience and his passion for the music of past centuries, Reinhard Glende offers fascinating insights into the world of harpsichord music. The special acoustics of St. Mary’s Church lend this concert evening a unique atmosphere and make it a special experience for lovers of classical music.
