Kick-off event for the Siegmann Year 2026 | Reading & discussion
To open this year's Siegmann Year, the foundation of the same name is giving well-known contributors to the current debate on strengthening democracy a chance to speak - in texts formulated by them, perhaps even personally, but certainly worth listening to. Afterwards, the foundation and the Literaturhaus invite you to a discussion: How can we succeed in building new trust in democracy and make the importance of democracy more tangible again?
The Richard Siegmann Foundation sees itself as an amplifier of Rostock's civic potential. Once a year, it awards the Siegmann Medal, endowed with €3,000, and a number of sponsorship prizes. In doing so, it recognizes those who go beyond the beaten track to make an outstanding contribution to the community. In the spirit of Richard Siegmann, the foundation supports personalities, ideas and projects that advance Rostock's future.
