Video, text, collage and installation in an interdisciplinary artistic research project
The installation "Stones move, trees speak" is constructed as a three-dimensional herbarium in which collected and dried botanical samples of around 50 trees from Warnemünde are presented together with objects, images, texts and videos that link the trees to broader narratives of control, responsibility, resistance and change.
The starting point of the project was to explore the local history and landscape through the stories of the trees. In particular, it focused on the relationship between the trees and the sand on a social, political, economic and environmental level. By placing the trees at the center of the narrative and treating them as its main protagonists, the project seeks to understand how the local landscape has been shaped.
