Archaeotechnology Workshop with Dr. K. Staude, Archäo Tour Rügen: Making Fire and Crafting Tools Like in Ötzi’s Time—for All Ages
In this workshop, adults and children will learn what life was like thousands of years ago and how difficult life could sometimes be during the Stone Age. The workshop is suitable for anyone who doesn’t just want to listen but would like to try their hand at making a flint tool—such as an arrowhead, a knife, or a scraper—or at starting a fire using tinder fungus, flint, and pyrite.
Various striking techniques, fire-making materials, and tools used in prehistory will be explained and demonstrated. Authentic axes, hatchets, knives, arrowheads, scrapers, and graters will be presented to help participants “grasp” history firsthand.
