Your sightseeing flight aboard the world’s largest single-engine biplane begins at Stralsund-Barth Airport on the Baltic Sea. Shortly after takeoff, Barth and the Bodden landscape glide leisurely beneath you. Prerow and Zingst line the route to the picturesque coast at Darßer Ort. In a wide arc, the flight takes you over the Baltic Sea beach and the enchanting Darß primeval forest back to the Baltic Sea Airport.
The aircraft is an Antonov An-2, first built in 1947 and still one of the longest-serving aircraft models in history. Its radial engine, producing around 1,000 PS, and its biplane design allow for short takeoff and landing distances. The aircraft, with the registration D-FBAW (number 804), originally flew for the East German Air Force and now operates as a Classic Antonov, flying over Berlin, Saxony, Usedom, and the Bodden landscape around Barth, among other destinations.
