It's Friday evening, and we're presenting six short films by students from the Rostock University of Music and Drama.
This evening, we’ll be presenting six short films by filmmakers from the Rostock University of Music and Drama. The films to be screened are “Trophäe” by Benjamin Hujawa, “Armadeira” by Betty Koschka, “Sinkflug” by Hoang Quynh Nguyen, “Fahrstuhl” by Jakob “Nilaf” Engelmann, “Die Chaos Cleaner” by David Schultes, and “Meine Wut auf deinem Couchtisch” by Lorena Elser and Hanna Führig.
What events and ideas inspire young people to make films? How do the themes relate to you and your generation? What role do everyday life and the region where we live—Mecklenburg-Vorpommern—play in the films? Three of the filmmakers will be at the Kompass Galerie for a discussion with the filmmakers and will present their works in person:
David Schultes presents “Die Chaos Cleaner,” a social dramedy. What’s it about?
Fearing eviction, a hoarder agrees to participate in a reality show where people’s homes are decluttered. But when the production team starts digging into his past to create more drama, everything threatens to spiral out of control.
“Meine Wut auf deinem Couchtisch” is the short film debut of the duo Lorena Elser (director) and Hanna Bührig (cinematographer). They studied sociology and communication and media studies in Rostock. In 2021, Lorena landed a role in the award-winning film “Milch ins Feuer”—that’s when her passion for film began. Hanna, on the other hand, has always been interested in films and filmmaking—and ever since she discovered the camera for herself (“mainly so she wouldn’t have to take orders from men”), she’s been really good at it. Film Synopsis: Where to channel all this anger at patriarchal newspaper articles? A proposed solution.
