The season in the sculpture garden of artist Franz Poppe in Waren (Müritz) is celebrated with a festival.
On Saturday, May 2, 2026, the artist Franz Poppe's sculpture garden at Gerhart-Hauptmann-Allee 5 in Waren (Müritz) will open for the season with a small celebration. The artist, who died in 2024, would have been 87 years old on this day.
In his spirit, the family will continue to run the sculpture garden for the public.
At 14:00, a personal exhibition by Waren artist Nadine Twieg will open in the old greenhouse.
The sculptures by Waren artist Nadine Twieg look as if they were created for nature - sensual ladies enthroned on spherical forms, as if they were listening to the garden itself. Wall elements made of organically intertwined shapes are reminiscent of natural structures such as roots, corals or cells. Their warm, terracotta-like colors and sculptural presence make them striking accents for indoor and outdoor spaces. The wind chimes are a more airy work. A finely balanced mobile object that brings movement and shadow into play. In combination with the sculptural standing object made of clay, a poetic interplay between stillness and movement is created. In the interplay of light, shadow and weather, the works unfold a poetry all of their own.
At 15:00 there will be a concert with the musician Peter Dreier from Waren.
Cult songs and his own pieces will be performed with hands and feet as a one-man band.
In addition to guitar and vocals, percussion, bass and harmonica can also be heard.
There will also be a rakuschau firing and you can visit the workshop of potter Cornelia Poppe.
Guided tours of the individual objects will be offered in the garden.
Admission is free.
