Andrei Kurkov reads from "Samson and the Galician Bath"

Kyiv, 1919: A squad of Red Army soldiers has vanished without a trace, right in the middle of the city, while visiting a banya. When Samson finds bone fragments in the bathhouse’s heating stove, he uncovers a sinister plot. In this third volume featuring the kind-hearted Samson and the clever Nadezhda, the author—a master of the absurd—brings early-1920s Kyiv to life. The story is full of political turmoil, quirky characters, and playful parallels to the present day.

The works of this author—a recipient of the Geschwister Scholl Prize and the Halldór Laxness International Literary Prize—have been translated into over 30 languages.
