Literary Walk with Matthias Dettmann

How have writers viewed and described Rostock? Author and graphic designer Matthias Dettmann guides visitors through the city using literary voices. Authors as diverse as Walter Kempowski, Uwe Johnson, Jürgen Borchert, Käthe Miethe, Erich Kästner, and Ernst Barlach have referenced the Neuer Markt, the Steintor, the ramparts, and other locations in the city. Excerpts from their texts are read aloud and supplemented with historical perspectives and contemporary references. During the group walk, there will also be time for a coffee break at the famous “Trinkende.” The walk is based on the anthology *Rostock, mein Arkadien* (Hinstorff Verlag, 2018), edited by Dettmann.

Meeting point: Neuer Markt (across from the Hotel Sonne) Duration: approx . 90 minutes

Participation fee: 6 , tickets available at the start of the walk. Registration possible (not required): reservierung@literaturhaus-rostock.de
