Rina Schmeller reads from “CO”—a powerful novel about addiction, codependency, violence, and the difficult journey back to one’s own freedom.

An encounter on a bridge, a realization, and a love: In “CO,” Rina Schmeller tells the story of a woman who becomes entangled in her partner’s codependency. His addiction becomes the silent center of their shared daily life, around which she increasingly revolves. The protagonist repeatedly flees from violence, yet keeps returning—until one day she takes the decisive step. “CO” is about compassion, creeping self-sabotage, and the dynamics of codependency.

At the same time, it is a story of liberation and the rediscovery of one’s own agency. With clear, rhythmic, and focused language, Rina Schmeller challenges a taboo. Her reading invites you to reflect on dependency, self-empowerment, and the path back to one’s true self.
