Geographic atrophy (GA) is an advanced form of dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD). In this condition, important photoreceptor cells in the retina are gradually lost. To date, there is no approved treatment for geographic atrophy in Europe.
In the next episode of Retina Live, the study team from the Eye Clinic at the Dietrich Bonhoeffer Hospital in Neubrandenburg will present a current Phase 2 clinical trial. The study is investigating a treatment involving eye drops and whether it can slow the progression of the disease.
Patients and their families can learn about the study and ask the research team questions directly. Participation is free, non-binding, and can be done conveniently from home via phone or Zoom.
