Who is the best reader in the district of Nordwestmecklenburg?
At the regional competition on 24.2.2024, the winners of the school competitions will compete in the Literaturhaus "Uwe Johnson" Klütz.
All participating children will receive a certificate and a book gift. The winner of the district competition is allowed to travel to the following state competition. The stages lead from the school decisions via city/district, district and state level to the national final with the 16 state winners in Berlin in June. With around 600,000 participants each year, the reading competition, which was launched in 1959, is the oldest and largest school competition in Germany.
The competition aims to spread enthusiasm for books to the public, strengthen children's reading skills and thus help them to broaden their horizons, understand social changes and develop an openness to new ideas. The Stiftung Buchkultur und Leseförderung also publishes curated reading tips on numerous topics at www.vorlesewettbewerb.de/der-wettbewerb/buchempfehlungen - even beyond the well-known children's book classics.
The reading competition is organized by the Book Culture and Reading Promotion Foundation of the German Publishers and Booksellers Association and is under the patronage of the Federal President. The Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth sponsors the reading competition. The Education and Social Foundation of the Sparda-Bank Baden-Württemberg, the Sparda-Bank Hessen, the Gewinn-Sparverein der Sparda-Bank München e. V. and the Sparda Bank Hamburg support the decisions at regional level. The media partner is rbb.
