Gerlinde Zimmermann, née Illner, from Ludwigslust, presents the impressive life story of her mother.
On Sunday, May 10, 2026, at 2:00 pm, a special reading will take place in the rectory in 19294 Conow, Kirchenplatz 2.
Gerlinde Zimmermann, née Illner, from Ludwigslust, will present the impressive life story of her mother.
The focus is on Anna Illner (born in 1918), who grew up on a farm in the Sudetenland and ventured a new start with her family in Mecklenburg after being expelled in 1946. Despite great hardship and challenges, she, the "good soul" of the family, managed to build a new life together with her husband and three children, first in Woosmer and later in Neu Kaliß.
"I wrote down my mother's life story to thank her - and all mothers," says Gerlinde Zimmermann.
In her reading, the author combines her mother's eventful life with her own mostly happy memories. The result is a personal and at the same time historical portrait that tells of war and loss, but also of strength, solidarity and confidence.
The event promises to be a thought-provoking and touching afternoon.
After the reading, the audience can talk to the author over coffee and cake. Admission is free and there will be a glass of sparkling wine for all mothers.
