From the book "Then just without a title ... once again we couldn't agree"
Two sisters, one story and an untitled book
Anja and Gerit Kling, Germany's most famous pair of sisters, have been successful actresses for decades and yet could hardly be more different. Both Gerit and Anja, who is five years younger, grew up near Potsdam, went through the classic GDR youth and dreamed of a life of freedom from an early age. Five days before the Wall came down, they fled to the West. They only survived the following dramatic days together.
While Gerit was drawn to the stage and the camera from an early age, Anja only came to acting in a roundabout way. They both made careers for themselves, but life in the limelight also has its downsides.
"This profession is the most beautiful in the world when it works, and the cruelest when it doesn't," say the Kling sisters.
Anja and Gerit Kling talk wittily and touchingly about the highs and lows they have mastered as sisters; and about the fact that the best way to get through life is to not always take yourself so seriously...
