In commemoration of July 20, 1944, we cordially invite you to a reading and discussion. The focus will be on the farewell letters written by Helmuth James von Moltke and Freya von Moltke. These texts are poignant testimonies to a time when resistance was not merely a stance, but became a matter of personal fate.
Reinhard Krökel reads selected passages that speak of responsibility, conscience, and the hope of remaining human even in situations that seem hopeless. In the discussion that follows, there will be an opportunity to reflect on the significance of July 20, 1944, and to consider questions such as these together: What does resistance mean today, and what strengths do people draw upon when the price for doing what is right is high?
The event will take place on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the Johanneskirche in Dömitz.
