With excerpts from Anne Frank's diary, this reading provides an insight into the thoughts and feelings of a young girl who, despite persecution and exclusion, never stopped asking questions about herself and the world. At the same time, this reading complements the Vorpommern Theater's opera production, sheds light on the historical background and invites you to think further.
On her 13th birthday, Anne Frank was given a diary in which she wrote down her thoughts from June 1942 to August 1, 1944. During this time, she lived together with family members and acquaintances in hiding in a rear building in Amsterdam's Prinsengracht to escape deportation and murder by the National Socialists.
What does it mean to hide, to not be allowed to be there - to live in invisibility for an unknown period of time? What happens to a young person when the world outside becomes a threat and yet hope does not fall silent?
In cooperation with the Theater Vorpommern. The venue is the Stralsund City Library, Badenstraße 13.
