Book launch & discussion as part of the PolDo | Moderation: Prof. Doris Neuberger (University of Rostock)
They advise governments and companies, steer the fortunes of states and institutions. Their influence extends from politics to our private lives, they determine the level of our wages and our match on the dating app. Whether in the climate catastrophe or the pandemic: all over the world, we are placing our trust in fact-free science that has no concept of morality or justice - and this is costing human lives. Economist Daniel Stähr presents an overdue intervention from within our own ranks that shows that things could be very different.
Daniel Stähr, born in 1990 in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, is an economist, essayist and freelance author. He regularly contributes to Deutschlandfunk Kultur, ZEIT, taz and FAS. S. FISCHER recently published "Die Sprache des Kapitalismus" (2024, with Simon Sahner), which was awarded the Readers' Prize of the German Business Book Award.
