On Thursday: On June 25 at 6 p.m., things will get poetic: André Hatting will read from his poetry collection "sonntag," - an evening full of language, sound and literary journeys between Stralsund, Hiddensee, Berlin, Edinburgh and many other places.
On Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 6 pm, the Stralsund City Library invites you to a special author reading: This time, the focus is not on a novel, but on an evening full of poetry. Author André Hatting presents his poetry collection "sonntag," and takes the audience on a literary journey through cities, landscapes, times and worlds of language.
The book of poems looks like a record single, but the content is more than just a song. André Hatting lets the big city symphonies resound in a Sunday imposing manner, but also has an ear for the quiet tones: Stralsund, Hiddensee, Helgoland and Ahrenshoop, but also Edinburgh or Berlin, it goes cross-country through times and languages. Hatting's readings are adventurous vacations and detailed perceptions. His texts manage, as Ulf Stolterfoht puts it in the afterword to the volume, "to fit spoken language, slang and dialect, foreign language, technical language and much more low language precisely into the overall high linguistic event."
The event offers a best of over 30 years of lyrical production, a preview of the next volume - and a world premiere.
André Hatting was born in 1974 and has lived in Stralsund since 2011. He works as a freelance author, literary critic and presenter, including for Deutschlandfunk Kultur.
