The roots of the region lie in "Swedish Pomerania"
Prof. Dr. Porada, who was born in Grimmen, is a proven expert on the Swedish period who is also very familiar with Griebenow Castle and its eventful history.
In addition to historical and geographical regional studies, his main areas of interest include interdisciplinary cultural landscape analysis, cartographic history, applied historical geography and German regional history with a spatial focus on Central and North-Eastern Europe, primarily the Baltic Sea region. His particular focus is on the transfer of knowledge to a broader public.
From 1998 to 2001, he received a scholarship from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. In 2001, he moved to the Chair of Nordic History in Greifswald, in order to compile a thematic archive inventory of the holdings with Nordic, Baltic and Swedish-Pomeranian references in the State Archives in Szczecin as part of a German-Polish cooperation project.
On the initiative of the Working Group for Pomeranian Church History, he and several colleagues organized a well-attended series of lectures entitled "750 Years of Griebenow" and an exhibition on the subject of "Griebenow in Swedish Pomerania" at Griebenow Castle near Greifswald in 1998.
You can expect an exciting lecture on the Swedish roots of our homeland
