The Dammtor is the last of Barth’s four city gates. It is now open to visitors again, with free admission and set opening hours. In cooperation with the Barth Heritage Association.
The Dammtor is the only surviving gate of the four original city gates of the Vinetastadt of Barth. A gate at this location is first mentioned in a document dating back to 1357; the current tower was likely built around 1425. It is 35 meters high, has five stories, is constructed of brick, and is part of Barth’s Brick Gothic architecture.
The other three city gates—the Langes Tor, Wiektor, and Fischertor—were demolished in the 19th century. Only the Dammtor has survived. On the exterior, the masonry is over two meters thick, a testament to the structure’s former defensive function.
In collaboration with the Barth Local History Association, the Dammtor is now regularly open to visitors. Admission is free.

The Dammtor is located in downtown Barth and is within walking distance. It is part of the European Route of Brick Gothic.
