On the occasion of the 13th Day of Archives, the State Archives of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern invite you to an open day in Schwerin.
On March 7, the Association of German Archivists calls for a nationwide "Day of Archives" for the 13th time, which is intended to give the public the opportunity to get to know archives and their work better and discover unknown treasures every two years. The motto chosen this year, "Old home - new home", is almost an invitation to present the two locations of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern State Archives in Schwerin to all interested parties on this day: The "old home", the building of the Secret and Main Archives from 1911 on Graf-Schack-Allee, will open its doors to visitors from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. You can look forward to a lecture on the subject of the home of archives in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, guided tours of the building's history, various film screenings, archive presentations and a look inside one of the historical stacks. In contrast to this is the "new home", the depot and workshop building in Johannes-Stelling-Straße, which was completed last year and is now being occupied. At this location, we will be providing information on the creation and use of the building as well as the effects of the closure due to the move on the work of the State Archives on four dates (see times) and will be giving an insight into the tasks of the restoration and digitization workshops.
