The Calidore String Quartet is recognized as one of the world's leading performers of an extensive chamber music repertoire, from the quartet cycles of Beethoven and Mendelssohn to works by celebrated contemporary voices such as György Kurtág, Jörg Widmann and Caroline Shaw. For more than a decade, the Calidore has performed in the most important concert halls and at festivals worldwide, has released numerous highly acclaimed recordings and won numerous prizes.
The press has unanimously praised their great virtuosity and the Washington Post culminated in the statement that "four more individual musicians are unimaginable, yet they speak, breathe, think and feel as one".
Based in New York City, the Calidore String Quartet has performed in venues across North America, Europe and Asia, including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, London's Wigmore Hall, the Berlin Konzerthaus, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam and at major festivals such as the BBC Proms, Verbier, Ravinia and now makes its debut at the Villa Papendorf.
