The NEPTUN Shanty Choir on the Baltic Sea Canal

The "Neptun" Shanty Choir on the Kiel Canal (Nord-Ostsee-Kanal e.V.) currently has 30 singers and musicians.

It was founded in 1991 by employees of the Waterways and Shipping Authority in Kiel-Holtenau who loved to sing. To this day, the choir has retained this founding spirit over the years. From a repertoire of over 75 songs from around the world, the choir performs maritime songs and traditional shanties.
