Vernissage with lecture by Dr. Rüdiger Wenzel on May 19. The exhibition will be on display at the Karower Meiler until the end of July.
Nepal is one of the most mysterious and enchanting, but also one of the poorest countries in the world. Centuries-old architecture, countless monasteries, pagodas and temples characterize the country, as do the friendly, reserved people and the mighty mountains of the Himalayas in the north of the country. Around 80 different ethnic groups with their own languages, traditions and ways of life reflect Nepal's cultural diversity.
However, anyone who travels the country with open eyes and hearts will not fail to notice the social problems. This was the reason for Dr. Rüdiger Wenzel and his colleagues to become involved in the aid organization "Nepalmed". In 2025, Nepalmed founder Dr. Arne Drews from Grimma received the Federal Cross of Merit on behalf of the dedicated voluntary work of all foundation members.
During many work assignments at the Amppipal Community Hospital (Ghorka province) as well as numerous trips and trekking tours, fascinating pictures were taken. These pictures will be on display at the Karower Meiler Nature Park Center from 19 May until the end of July 2026. The vernissage will take place on Tuesday, May 19, at 5 pm. In an introductory lecture, Dr. Rüdiger Wenzel will give an insight into the lives of the people, the rich culture and geographical diversity of the country as well as the work of the Nepalmed Foundation.
