This year’s Music Theater in the Park is titled “Castles in the Air.” Castles in the air, dreams, fantasies, illusions, visions. So many words for something that’s actually impossible to put into words.
We approach the topic through various scenes, images, and musical improvisations, bringing dreams and visions to life. “Playful castle-building in the air is the fertile soil from which the seed of reality sprouts. Castles in the air give rise to the palaces of the earth.” Prentice Mulford
In the first part of the evening, we invite you to Alice in Wonderland’s “Tea Party.”
Here we deal with flights of fancy and absurd dialogues that aren’t necessarily comprehensible. In the second part, which takes place under the overhanging roof against the backdrop of the castle in the air, we’ll explore, among other things, Ingeborg Bachmann’s story “A Business with Dreams.” And on the way back at dusk, you’ll encounter “your” castle in the air, which has taken shape over the course of the evening.
Actors, dancers, singers, instrumentalists, jugglers, and the choirs from Dönkendorf and Wismar will bring the scene to life.
Volunteers from Dönkendorf and the surrounding towns will help set up and take down the stage and the audience areas.
The performance will take place on August 15, 2026, starting at 6:00 p.m. in the park of the Kultur Gut Dönkendorf.
