Mill day at the zoo - experience craftsmanship and enjoy bread When the mill turns and fresh bread smells, tradition comes alive: The zoo invites you to German Mill Day with demonstrations, hands-on activities and moments of enjoyment.
On Whit Monday, the zoo will be all about mills and traditional crafts. Visitors can experience at first hand how flour is made from grain during the foam grinding, which is presented on site by an organic farmer. A special highlight is the live baking by amateur bakers, who you can watch directly over their shoulders. Fresh breads from the Krämer bakery - baked with rye flour from the zoo - are available to try and take away. The program is complemented by guided tours up to the Mühlenkopf, exciting mill stories and hands-on activities for children. The zoo nursery will also be on site to provide information about nesting aids and suitable plants for your own garden. In the afternoon, farmer's wife Dörthe and the animal show on the festival meadow provide additional highlights.
